Kaytoo did not fall unconscious. It was able to retrieve me and escape the effects before they became too much for its processors to bear.

It is always beneficial to receive an additional confirmation, however. May I inquire as to how close you were to the barrier before you began to experience the effects of it and for how long you were able to remain conscious?

Isn't it kind of weird that it can affect both organic stuff and something technical?

I don't know exactly how close I was. I was maybe about 100 feet away when I started to feel like something was off. I got maybe 80, 85 feet before I couldn't really move anymore and there was so much going on before I passed out. It took about ten seconds. Counting was hard. But before I completely blacked out, I could've sworn I saw something outside the Barrier. They looked like a person.

Yes, it is curious but I am sure there is a perfectly logical situation. My current hypothesis is that in addition to emitting strong emotional waves, it is also emitting some kind of radio wave. K-2SO mentioned that its processors received too many stimuli simultaneously to process them correctly, so there must be some radio frequency interference.

I do not doubt that you saw something, however I would postulate that it was not a person you saw, but a spirit. Our current knowledge of the world indicates that no person lives outside the barrier, but we know that spirits do. I am interested in hearing more about what it was that you saw.

[So that he knows what to look for when he takes another trip out there.]

I'm not sure I get it. Can't most things only emit one or the other? I mean, I'm not a science expert. A lot of this stuff goes over my head.

There isn't much else to describe. It was hard to make out and my head hurt a lot. But I think it wanted in because I saw it press its face against the window. I could try and draw it for you?

Most creatures cannot, though I cannot say for certain as I am unfamiliar with the creature that caused this. It is possible that is was using a technological device to create a disturbance in any sort of cybernetic or robotic being. Perhaps it is possible to scan the area for any electromagnetic waves.

[He gives a bow of his head as an approval to his offer.]

Yes, that would be most helpful. Mayhap there is someone here that will be able to identify the creature from your sketch.

House meeting. How long have you guys been sitting on those recordings? I want to know everything you've got about this - facts, theories, whatever you've got.

The recordings were recovered in June, however I was not privy to the information which they contained. The flower Miss Cuevas mentioned has been located in some caves on this planet and inside some of the creatures that breached the barrier last time, though I am uncertain as to whether or not Iota Eta is located on Genessia; there are no records of a city of that name that I have found so far, though based on the destruction it is possible that they have been destroyed. I plan on going to the library this weekend to try to discover more about the place. I will let you know my findings once I have some.

[Spock closes the thick book on his desk, picks up his device, and begins to walk while he talks. He's assuming Kirk is downstairs since he called for a house meeting so he's leaving his study so they can discuss the matter face-to-face. Until they're together, though, he'll speak over the video.]

My primary area of focus has been on the barriers and the crystals. The barrier surrounding us is currently unapproachable, as I learned very early in my experiences here, so it has been difficult to study them. The crystals, such as the ones Miss Cuevas' memories were on, appear to be regular crystals, but there is some mechanism that allows them store information and the pendants we possess to allow us travel between cities. Their coloring also seems to reflect the world from which we come from. Since arriving here, I have learned that magic does exist in many other worlds and have begun to study it to try to determine how the crystals work. Having no prior knowledge on the topic, I predict that this will be a lengthy process.

[At this point he's made it down into the common area, where he's presuming Kirk is sitting.

He'd tell him about what's happening to the dead bodies around here too, but he's signed an NDA so Kirk will have to wait on that, Captain or not.]

[Not sitting; standing. He was pacing too, but stopped once he realized Spock was actually in the house. The Vulcan's so quiet when he's around, Kirk barely knows he's there. This is information. This is something, which is a lot more than he's had since the first day he woke up in this place years ago. He seems energetic and motivated. Happy, even! And why shouldn't he be? Now that he has an actual direction to follow instead of puttering around aimlessly and pretending to live a normal domestic life, he's carpeing every diem.]

[He only listens to the device until Spock descends, after which Kirk shuts it down and pockets it.]

Do we know the exact location where these flowers were being harvested? How were they being put into people -- ingestion, or implants?

[The pun is unintentional, he's too fired up for dumb jokes.]

Have we found any more of these crystals, the ones with the memories or recordings imprinted on them?

[Spock stands tall and watches as Kirk bounces around, raising one eyebrow. He hasn't seen him this excited in a while, though why he's not certain. They have some information, sure, but nothing solid just yet.]

We know the location of the flowers; I was part of the team which discovered them. Miss Schnee has plans to go back and gather some more samples, for which I plan to accompany her. We do not yet know how they found their way into the creatures. I am currently attempting to research more about Iota Eta and in turn them at the library.

[He pockets his own communicator, continuing without missing a beat.]

I only know of the one crystal, though it is possible that others exist. The caves are rather extensive and there were many people scouring them. It would be unsurprising for someone else to have located another one and not shared the information it contains, or perhaps not even be aware of it.

When I first got here, you referred to the stones it has as 'crystals.' What if we've been carrying around the clues we need this entire time?

I apologize for my lack of clarity. I have been utilizing the term "crystals" interchangeably to refer to both the pendants we wear and the memory crystal of Miss Cuevas. I will endeavour to differentiate them in the future. I have been studying both for some time now though I have not been able to discover as much as I would like, which I believe is largely due to the magical component in play.

[He pauses. It's a long shot, especially since he's unaware of magic back in their universe, but Kirk is full of surprises so who knows? He has nothing to lose and everything to gain.]

I don't suppose you have any sort of magical knowledge?

[Spock doesn't get the joke - H5O3 isn't exactly a common occurrence after all, having to be manufactured from 3 water molecules pressed together and then removing one hydrogen atom. He also doesn't celebrate Christmas, though he has been informed that Christmas Cards are a thing at least, so the sentiment is... noted.

Still, he has no idea what to do with it, so he slips it between some books on a shelf and makes a mental note to ask Jim what the proper protocol is here.
